This text is about the girl Judy from the orphan asylum. She writes lettels to her guardian and he seems the only one whom she can write to about her adventures, although she has never seen him.
In these letters she tells about different sides of the life in College where she was sent by her guardian. She tells about the things she likes in College and also describes awkward situations that she got into her first days. Entering the College she realizes the depth of her ignorance. She tries to educate herself and specifies the things she has learned, but there is still much to catch up.
In her second letter she list the things she bought with the money that the guardian sent her. She doesn't like to admit one of the last items of her list- silk stockings. She tells about the reason for buying them and calls it a low motive. But she tries to jstify herself by telling about her hard childhood when she had to wear checked ginghams and poor box dresses.
Through these letters we can see that Judy is greatful to her guardian and has trust in him. But she is concerned that her letters bore him and he has no interest in them.
